Loans
Two points to remember:
REGISTER at the enquiries desk if you are a new student.
You must bring your barcoded ID card with you every time you want to borrow books for use outside the library.
These items may only be used in the library:
Reference books
All journals and current issues of magazines
Pamphlet file items and menus
Headsets and chargers
Up to 10 of these items may be borrowed for two weeks:
Circulating books, back issues of magazines
Up to 2 of these items may be borrowed for two weeks:
CD-ROMs, videos and DVDs
One of these items may be borrowed for one day or overnight from a half hour before closing time, to be returned before 10AM the next morning:
Digital cameras
Digital voice recorder
One of these items may be borrowed for 2 hours or overnight from a half hour before closing time, to be returned before 10AM the next morning:
Reserve collection items
Renewals
An item on two-week loan may be renewed once for an additional two weeks, provided no other borrower has requested the item. Renewals may be made by phone (315 5145 or 315 5028), e-mail (library@emiratesacademy.edu) or in person, but this must be done on or before the due date.
Fines
Dhs 5 per day for items on two-week loan
Dhs 5 per hour for items on 2-hourly or overnight loan
Items returned in damaged or soiled condition will also incur fines, with the amount to be decided by the library. You will have to pay the full replacement cost of an item if it is beyond repair or lost.
If a fine or replacement charge is not paid promptly, your borrowing privileges may be suspended. Transcripts will not be released to students with outstanding Library debts.
Faculty

Up to 25 of these items may be borrowed for up to a whole semester
· Circulating books
Five of these items may be borrowed for one week

One of these items may be borrowed for one day or overnight

· Digital voice recorder

Renewals

An item on one-week loan may be renewed for an additional one week, provided no other borrower has requested the item. Renewals may be made by phone (315 5145 or 315 5028), e-mail or in person, on or before the due date.

Fines

Faculty are not charged fines for overdue items. However we urge you to return library materials promptly, as our collection is limited and student use is our priority.
Items returned in damaged or soiled condition will not incur fines; however you will be asked to pay the full replacement cost of an item if it is beyond repair or lost. |

Services for faculty

Textbook procurement for your courses each semester, including instructor’s materials
Other course support, including book and website list compilation for particular assignments, themed book displays, etc.
In-class workshops for your students on how to search the databases or how to use APA referencing, in conjunction with class assignments
Reserves— a special collection of high-demand books and other materials (as requested by you) that is kept behind the desk and is only available to students overnight or for 2 hours in the library
Training for you in how to use the library catalogue, databases and Turnitin, and the basics of APA referencing
Research assistance, i.e. article searches can be done for you according to your specifications
External journal article delivery upon request

EAHM Staff

Please note that precedence will be given to students who need to borrow resources or equipment for a course assignment.

If you have completed an ASc, BSc or MSc degree at EAHM, you may become a member of the Library by paying a refundable amount of AED 250.

Jumeirah Staff
Jumeirah colleagues are welcome to use the library’s resources in-house at any time. In order to be eligible for borrowing privileges, a Jumeirah colleague must pay a non-refundable membership fee of AED 250 per year.
