A period spent abroad within a degree programme through study and/or an internship is a great way of developing and broadening your horizons. Our Study Abroad programme offers you a fabulous opportunity to experience another culture and study at a prestigious hospitality management university.

You may study at The Academy for up to one academic year and you will also have the option of participating in our Internship Programme at any of our five-star hotel partners for a minimum of 10 weeks.

Courses Available - Postgraduate

Eligible students may undertake courses at the Postgraduate level and currently a maximum of three courses are offered per trimester in which the credit weightage for each course is up to 10 ECTS.

Minimum Requirements

- Be a current undergraduate or postgraduate student of an accredited University
- Have grades of good standing
- Be fluent in the English language

Tuition Fees

Fees for the Study Abroad programme include:

- Application and visa fees
- Tuition fees for courses
- Fully furnished on-campus single studio accommodation for one trimester
- Orientation week activities 
- All textbooks and academic materials
- Academic related photocopying and printing
- Access to library and electronic databases
- A loan laptop (if required) 
- IT software and licenses
- Laundry for business attire
- On-campus car park
- Access to the gym, swimming pool, tennis court and other campus facilities 

How to Apply

We understand that preparing an application for further studies can seem complex at times. However, here at The Academy, we are committed to making the process as easy as possible and we will do everything we can to assist you. 

You may begin your studies in January, April or September and Applications are accepted either Online or via Email.  Please also visit our download centre for the Brochures, Application form, Fee structure and other related documents.

STEP 1: Filling in the Forms

Application form
The Application form has to be fully completed together with payment of the application fee of USD 500.  Please click HERE for payment methods. Receipt of the payment made must be included with your application.


Evaluation / Reference form
One
Evaluation / Reference form must be completed by either your teacher, employer or someone that knows you professionally. 


Medical information form
Your Medical information form must be submitted together with your application. Disclosing a medical condition will not affect your admission to The Academy as we recognise and support students with particular learning requirements such as dyslexia, numeracy issues etc.

STEP 2: Submitting Your Documents

Current Transcripts
We need copies of your current transcripts.  Please note that you will need to get your transcripts officially translated to English if it is in a foreign language.


Scanned Coloured Copy of Your Passport & 1 JPEG Passport Photo
Please submit a scanned coloured copy of your passport and 1 JPEG passport photo.


Personal Statement of Motivation
This personal essay is an important part of your application. Allow us to get to know you better and understand the reasons why you are interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry. This statement should be between 300 - 500 words and typewritten. 


Other Documents
Indication of preferred hotel and job scope (if going on an internship) and any other additional documents which you would like to include such as academic awards, employment certificates, achievements etc.

  

STEP 3: English Proficiency

All classes at The Academy are conducted in English and hence you are expected to be fluent in the language.  Although not a requirement, you are encouraged to sit for the TOEFL / IELTS test to ensure that your level of English meets expectations.

Internships

The optional internship component of the Study Abroad programme can be completed before or after the study courses.  Being an integral part of Jumeirah, the luxury hotel group behind world renowned properties such as the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah and many other properties around the world, certainly offers you an unrivalled opportunity for your internship.  In addition, The Academy’s strong connections with the hospitality industry also opens up further opportunities within other reputable five-star hotel chains in Dubai.

The minimum period for the internship is 10 weeks and The Academy will facilitate this on your behalf. Although you may indicate a hotel preference, placement is not guaranteed as it depends on the individual hotels.
