INITIAL CALL FOR PAPERS
FOR 26th EUROCHRIE CONFERENCE
Dubai 2008

It is with great pleasure that The Emirates Academy is hosting the 2008 EuroCHRIE Congress in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from October 11th - 14th 2008.

The theme of the conference will be: Building a Legacy, Living the Dream: 2020 Vision for Hospitality and Tourism.”
This conference will be a major international forum, and an exciting opportunity to combine and share industry-relevant education and research and innovative practice relating to tourism, hospitality and events management. EuroCHRIE 2008 also offers delegates the opportunity to take part in panel, roundtable, symposia, workshops and special-interest group sessions.


The International Scientific Committee chaired by Dr. John Sutton is calling for initial abstracts of papers for review.
It is the intention of the Conference Organisers to offer multi track presentation opportunities that will involve: full papers (20 mins), short papers (8 mins), posters, and methodological concepts for table top discussions and to facilitate speed researcher networking.


The aim is to inform conference delegates of the ‘State of the Art’ in research activities and findings and to enable active researchers to both present their work and to network with others working in their field.

KEY DATES:
Abstract Submission:              25 January 2008 - extended to 25 Feb 2008
Notification of Outcome:          15 March 2008
Submission of Full Papers:       20 April 2008
Final Papers:                              25 June 2008

For the first time, in 2008, papers can be submitted and presented in Arabic as well as English -

Submission of Abstracts
Submitted abstracts should be relevant with the overall conference theme and at least one of the conference sub-themes, should be written in English (except those submitted for the Arabic track), and should be submitted by the due dates (see above for “KEY DATES”).

All contributions must be original, previously unpublished work, follow academic writing standards, structure and methodology – APA style.

Submissions will be blind-refereed by at least two anonymous reviewers who will decide if the proposed abstracts will be accepted or not.

Acceptance of an abstract does not automatically lead to acceptance of the relevant final paper.

Following the acceptance of the abstract, the author(s) will be provided with specific guidelines for the submission of a full paper, and then all full papers submitted will be refereed once more by at least two anonymous reviewers who will decide if the final paper will be accepted or not.

  • Abstracts are required for all papers and posters
  • All applicants are required to submit a 500 word abstract (double-spaced), on the topic of their paper/poster, which represents original, previously unpublished work.
  • Multiple abstracts are welcome.
  • Abstract submissions should be received by 00:00 hrs (GMT) on 25 Feb 2008
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English - unless for the Arabic Track
  • Applicants are asked to indicate the appropriate conference theme for each abstract and whether they are targeting a:
    o Full refereed paper with a 20 minute stand-up presentation,
    o Working paper with an 8 minute presentation, or,
    o Poster format.
  • Responsibility for accuracy rests with the author.
  • If the abstract is accepted for presentation, the lead author will be notified by 15 March 2008
  • Acceptance of an abstract does not automatically lead to acceptance of the relevant final paper

Criteria for Acceptance
Submissions are judged on three criteria for acceptance at the 2008 EuroCHRIE Conference. They are:

  1. Overall quality (design of the study, development of the concept, rigor etc.), 
  2. Significance of the contribution to the discipline, and;
  3. Interest to members and delegates

Best Paper Designation
Papers judged to have outstanding merit by the Refereed Paper Committee will receive a Best Paper designation in the conference programme and will be recognized at a general session for all attendees.

Conference Proceedings and Publication Opportunities
All accepted papers will be included in the official conference proceedings. The proceedings will be published professionally in printed and/or electronic form, and will be available for distribution during the conference. Each registered conference delegate will receive one free copy of the conference proceedings.

Authors of selected conference papers may have the opportunity to publish their work in a special issue of an international scientific journal.
