How do I get there?

Dubai's ultra-modern airport is the busiest in the Middle East and serves as a regional hub. As a result of its 'open skies' policy, over 60 major airlines operate to and from Dubai with frequent services. Dubai International Airport is also home to Emirates, the award-winning international airline that now serves over 94 destinations.

worldwide.

Is it hot?

Although temperatures can reach 45 degrees Celsius in mid-August, the average ambient temperature between October and March is in the high 20s to low 30s Celsius - a very pleasant climate. The one weather constant is year round high relative humidity, but this seldom becomes unbearable. However, every building, office and car is air-conditioned, as is the Academy. Otherwise, Dubai's climate comprises 365-day sunshine and copious amounts of blue sky!

Is it safe?

Dubai boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Street crime and petty theft are unheard of, as is vagrancy. Many diverse communities from around the world live in close harmony. The UAE is thousands of miles away from any of the so-called 'hot spots' of the Middle East. The citizens of the UAE are well known for their impeccable manners, welcoming attitude towards foreigners and for having created a liberal, progressive and stable environment, where a strong premium is put on family values. The Academy itself is located in one of the most upscale areas in Dubai - the residential district of Jumeirah - with its nearby beaches and leisure facilities.

Who lives in Dubai?

The majority of the resident population is from the nearby Indian Sub-Continent, although there are significant expatriate population contingents from the United Kingdom, the United States, the Philippines, Europe, Korea, Japan and other Middle East countries such as Lebanon. Unusually for the Middle East, Emiratis are in the minority, comprising only 15% of the population. Hence, Dubai relies heavily on its resident expatriate workforce. Many expatriates enjoy long and fruitful careers in the UAE, benefiting from high, tax-free salaries and other cost of living subsidies.

What is the religion?

The official religion is Islam, but all religions are tolerated.

How can I spend my leisure time?

Dubai offers every sport imaginable, including an abundance of water sports like water skiing and scuba diving. Public access beaches are a five-minute walk from the Academy. In addition, there are numerous cultural associations, commercial cinemas, spectator sporting events such as the famous Dubai World Cup horse race and Dubai Desert Classic golf, and independently promoted concerts that feature international artists. If anything, there is too much to do, especially when one factors in the extra-curricular activities that will be organised by the Academy itself and by student associations!

How do I get a visa?

Visa formalities are straightforward, and for students not already resident in the UAE, the Jumeirah Group, on behalf of the Academy, will seamlessly handle student visa applications. Your visa will allow completely unfettered multiple entry and exit on an annual basis, renewable as long as your studies with us continue.
