Recommended for: Senior executives such as Department Heads or Resident Managers, who wish to prepare themselves for broader general management roles; and General Managers who wish to develop, strengthen or refresh their all-round business management capabilities.
Key learning outcomes: By the end of the programme, participants will be able to: explain the key business drivers within their operations and illustrate their impact on P&L statements and Balance Sheets; recognise the linkages and interaction between these business drivers, market conditions and results; apply the Fundamental Concepts of Excellence to further enhance performance; and immediately put their knowledge into practice.
Format: A practical five-day experiential programme involving some evening work, commencing Sunday morning and continuing through until the following Thursday evening. Participants work in teams, representing competing businesses within a marketplace, where the aim by the end of the week is to achieve the best business results by effectively applying industry-specific competencies and the concepts of excellence to critical decision-making during the simulation. A blended learning approach is used, including lectures on relevant topics, substantial hands-on team-working, individual exercises, informal learning events and social interactions. The process will also enable participants to understand their learning styles and develop their team-working skills
Contents: Key concepts are applied in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Sales and Revenue Management, Human Resources, and Operations. Participants also learn the principles of The Fundamental Concepts of Excellence: results orientation; customer focus; leadership & strategy; management by processes; people development & involvement; continuous learning, improvement & innovation; partnership development; and corporate social responsibility.
