Course Overview
This qualification offers broad coverage of all product categories in the field of alcoholic drinks, together with the principles of basic tasting technique. It is suitable for those with little previous experience. Holders of the WSET® Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines, Spirits and Other Alcoholic Beverages will be able to:
· Interpret the labels of the major alcoholic beverages of the world
· Give basic guidance on appropriate selection and service,
· Know the principles of wine tasting and evaluation.
Target Audience
The Level 2 Intermediate Certificate qualification is intended for those who have little or no previous knowledge of the broad range of alcoholic beverages.
It is suitable wherever a sound but simple level of product knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competences, for example in the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retailing and wholesaling industries. It is also useful for anyone who has a general interest in the subject.
It is important that potential students appreciate that this is primarily a professional development course for the drinks industry and is approached in that way by the tutors.
However, the course is very suitable for wine enthusiasts who are not employed within the drinks industry but wish to learn more about the subject.
Course Objectives
Holders of the WSET® Intermediate Certificate in Wines, Spirits and Other Alcoholic Beverages will be able to:
· Understand the principles of wine production
· Know the major world wine production areas and their products,
· Interpret the labels of the major alcoholic beverages of the world,
· Give basic guidance on appropriate selection and service,
· Know the principles of wine tasting and evaluation.
Course Outline
Study takes the form of:
· Ten two (2)-hour sessions followed by a one (1)-hour assessment by means of a 50- question, multiple- choice examination; or;
· Four (4) full days study, including the examination

Prerequisites
There are no prior product knowledge requirements. Candidates applying to sit the examination must be either:
· Over the legal minimum age for the retail purchase of alcoholic beverages in the country where the examination is being held, or
· Be preparing for the examination as a part of a recognised full time programme of study, or
· Have obtained parental consent.
· NOTE: For Dubai the requirements for the retail purchase of alcoholic beverages is a legal minimum age of 21 years, and being the holder of an approved Government Liquor Licence.
· Individuals working in the alcoholic beverage trade are exempt from holding a personal Liquor Licence, but their employing Company must hold a Company Licence.
Certification
Successful students receive full WSET certification accredited at Level 2 in the UK National Qualification Framework

Course Fee
AED 2450 per participant
Instruction materials, examination fee and tasting wines are included in the course fee. Accommodation and transportation are not included in the "Course Fees".
